Thandi Conradie
Thandi is a physiotherapist currently at Stellenbosch completing her PhD. Before this she worked at Madwaleni Hospital, rural Eastern Cape. In 2012 the hospital had fluctuating rehab team, mostly made up of visiting foreign rehabs. Thandi developed the Siyaphila ward (meaning “We are well”) into a fully functional rehab unit, with separate rooms for physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech therapists. She introduced ICF protocols and outcome measures, the annual Rolling Hills Wheelchair Race, and a gold standard CP service, with Malamulele Onwards, based on the CBR Matrix. Thandi is trained in advanced wheelchair seating and Neurodevelopmental Therapy (NDT). She was the RuReSA Award winner in 2018.
