Our Rural Partners

Rural Alliance Partners

The Rural Doctors Association of South Africa is a sister organization to RuReSA, providing networking opportunities for health professionals (focussing on Doctors) and functioning as a platform for advocating rural service delivery.

RHAP is a partnership between Wits Centre for Rural Health, the Rural Doctors Association of Southern Africa, SECTION27 and RuReSA. RHAP’s vision is “Rural Health - Key to a Healthy Nation”. We believe we can only have a healthy nation if rural health care is central to planning and decision-making at national and decentralised levels. We aim to be a leading resource in the field of rural health advocacy that facilitates the translation of rural health needs and health care solutions into policy and decision-making.

PACASA The Professional Association of Clinical Associates SA advocates for the use of clinical associates in South Africa and is an information hub for Clinical Associates

RuNurSA Rural Nursing SA aims to develop a network for rural nurses and promotes best practice in rural nursing. They have an exciting Facebook page!

This website hosts a variety of documents you might need in setting up or continuing services in a rural hospital. It also provides an overview of rural hospitals and has discussion boards for various relevant topics (e.g. the National Health Insurance System). The aim of this website is to provide support on all levels for therapists working in rural areas.

CREATE is a NGO based in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu Natal.  Our expertise is in training and advocacy work.  We are skilled at developing participatory training courses supported with interactive materials for participants at a variety of literacy levels in both English and isiZulu. We work with disabled people’s organisations, parents groups, communities, municipalities and government departments as well as other NGOs and businesses.

Reakgona is an exciting CBR project near Gelukspan in Northwest Province.  The project , a Parents Guidance Centre, has been on the go for 30 years and has created a wonderful model of CBR for parents of children with disabilities. The story of this project is now a book written by Undine Rauter :

"The Public Health Association of South Africa (PHASA) advocates equitable access to the basic conditions necessary to achieve health for all South African as well as equitable access to effective health care. PHASA will work with other public health associations and related organisations and advocate on national and international issues that impact on the conditions for a healthy society"
