RuReSA Newsletters and Wheelchair Project
delivered from our newsroom in Johannesburg, South Africa. It has comments
on issues within the health service and includes rehabilitation!
Please donate your old gloves to wheelchair users in rural areas! These gloves prevent hand injuries to those pushing wheelchairs on dust roads. As a wheelchair user, your hands are in constant contact with the wheels (you also brake by feathering or clasping your hands firmly on the wheels). This is really tough on the hands. Whilst people with quadriplegia can benefit from specifically designed gloves, our experience is that those with paraplegia in rural areas cope very well using cycling gloves. If you or your club wants to donate please let us know where you are so we can arrange a "handover": info@ruresa.org.za
RuReSA (Rural Rehab South Africa) is an NPO which seeks to improve the quality of rehabilitation services in rural state-sector South Africa. Our members are therapists (physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech language therapists & audiologists) working in rural areas for the Department of Health and NGOs.
